It’s Smith, from the second chapter! Yeah, eleven chapters later and he pops back in. Also: I have no idea why Mori’s patient looks like an orange cat version of Greg. He just does. It’s that kind of setting.
I never really go into it but this is the Trsanti’s basic recruitment process: they find capable people who are truly desperate and solve their financial needs in exchange for murder services.
Time moves forward in the comic, not at a real-time rate but thereabouts, and I didn’t have a good way to exposit it other than “two years!” Long time to spend rooted to one spot. It’d drive me crazy too.
