Oh boy… That makes them ten times worse then you think of them beforehand… Really horrible stuff to both prey on people like that and even worse TURN THEM INTO KILLERS.
It is a rather effective recruitment tactic. The biggest benefit you get is that your Assassin Guild doesn’t get flooded with a bunch of psychopaths, sociopaths, and ‘stable’ serial killers. In addition the people you recruit are more inclined to stick around, because they don’t want to go back to where they came from.
I don’t endorse it, but I do understand their reasoning.
