Merlin just HAD to do this, and I needed a momentary break to catch up on things. I’m also attempting to send out a story proposal to an anthology, if it get picked up, Merlin and I will be doing it! Fingers crossed.

WAFFLES!
Now I’m hungry. Damn it.
Waffles.
You’ve never experienced life until you’ve had them, then eaten them up whenever they show up again.
Horizontal-slit pupils are so creepy…
Now you know why I never fully trust goats and sheep.
I don’t have a waffle iron. :/
(Good luck on the story proposal!)
That reminds me… If they have video games of old, I wonder if Tip Capra plays Goat Simulator… Probably not, though.
Another thought: Since you don’t usually have time to color DD fully, maybe you could just make base sketches and leave Merlin or someone else inking and coloring? That way you’d have more time for yourself.
I feel bad for this being my immediate reaction, but I actually like Speedball’s coloring better than Merlin’s. He’s got a really good eye for palette.
I have offered previously to do some inking or colouring. Matching styles is a specialty of mine since I do work for petsites like Subeta. But I guess if it’s my work’s not up to scratch it’s just as well I’m not doing it.
It sounds like I hurt your feelings, and I’m sorry – I intended no slight towards your skills. Your comics are bright, fun, and energetic, and I’m looking forward to seeing the collaboration you’re working on with Speedball.
Off-topic: a few weeks ago Tailsteak posted a review of The Dragon Doctors. I have a couple quibbles with it:
1. The most important function of the art in the comic is to communicate the story. Tailsteak seems to assume that Speedball’s success in this purpose goes without saying, but he shouldn’t – there are a lot of comics drawn with polish and ornament that fail on this point.
2. That a buffer works well for him doesn’t mean that it works for everyone. Posting comics quickly gives Speedball feedback quickly and helps him post more comics quickly.
…but those caveats aside, I think it’s a good review – perceptive, thoughtful, and interesting to read.
Indeed. It kind of hurts my feelings that almost all of the art he posts is from the early chapters, where my art REALLY sucked. You don’t do that with Questionable Content!
That’s another good point – and he could have included some more interesting examples, like the splash page of “The Fourth Breaking”. I doubt it was intentional, but it would have been good to think about that more consciously.
From what we’ve learned in the story so far, I get the feeling this is catching the gist of Tip’s character fairly well.
