I am so, so sorry everyone for making you wait this long without telling you why. I’ve been horribly depressed (for a full year) and it’s been slowly sapping my ability to concentrate on things I enjoy doing, including making comics. I *am* getting treatment and medication, and it’s slowly kicking in, but this week I was completely running on empty. All the times I alloted myself to make comics I just couldn’t do it, until just now. That’s why it took so long to get this to you. Forgive me.
Goro’s expression in the last panel is the best. 😀
Also, no worries – one of the big advantages of webcomics is the flexible schedule. Glad to see a new comic posted!
I love your work too much to not forgive you.
Such a scare they did get! “argggh.. oh.” xD
Don’t sweat it Speedball, we can wait.
Forgive? For what? Glorious art? An amazing story? The production born from your sweat and (hopefully metaphorical) blood? Make no mistake, you have earned every single break you need to take, and at the end of the day your needs come first. We’re patient folk, we can wait.
Where you are now, I once was. Keep trying medications until you find the right combination. Do not succumb to feelings of futility. Medicine is an art, not a science. It took my psychiatrists more than a dozen different medication trials until they finally got it right. When they get it right, you will know.
In the meantime, keep plugging away with the comic. We understand and will continue to support your efforts.
“Sometimes science is more of an art than a science Morty, not a lot of people get that.”
While this seems random, it could be related to the previous page.
You should change your surroundings, Speed. Go on vacation, meet some new people. Yes, we’ll miss you, but if that’s what it takes to make you feel better, we’ll manage.
I WAS, but some jerk pulled strings to get my vacation cancelled. Why do you think I’m in an especially bad mood?
Okay, that would definitely put me off as well.
A dart board with a certain someone’s face on it might help a little there. I found it useful.
Or put his face and a sdrawkcab name in the comic and have bad things happen to him, repeatedly, as an antagonist.
Nah, it’s not worth wasting time on something like that. Better to go on to something more productive than revenge-fic.
Ouch…
Get better soon, but take all the time you need. Producing comics when you feel like shit, will result in shitty comics.
Hi! I just read through the last few chapters in one go. And I would like to comment on all the author notes:
Speedball: You are a hero. By making and sharing this story you make the world a better place.
Your world building is amazing. Your characters are great. Your stories are captivating. You rock!
Your art can be improved, but that is not important. It does the important job: It gets the story across. Even when you post scetches I can tell what is going on and what the characters are feeling. There are artists out there that may seem better, but that fail that test, their characters don’t connect to the reader. I prefer your art to theirs.
I would like you to stay in this world a long long time and keep telling great stories. That means you need to take care of yourself. Don’t get so hung up on tomorrows update that you forget to take care of yourself. Take *CARE* of yourself!
You tend to focus on missed pages and updates. Don’t. Every page you give us is a gift. A missed page is nothing. Literally nothing, don’t focus on it. Instead think of all the joy you have given us over the years, and all the joy you are going to give us in the future. The timing of that future is not important.
Take care of yourself.
Awwwww. Thank you. I’ve been taking the week off from even THINKING about making comics so I can brain-heal. I think it’s working.
What he said!
No worries. just take the time to get better. i will wait like the others. 🙂
Hope you had a good Easter
There’s nothing to forgive, Speedball, we all appreciate the time and effort that you put into just telling this story page by page, and every one of them is a gift.
Thanks guys. I’m PROBABLY going to be well enough to colorize comics again Wednesday lunchtime. We’ll see. Hopefully no family members need me.
Take your time. Get well. We can wait.
Speed I don’t write often, but you take care of you. You have a great comic and we like it and care about you. I know things can look bleak, but you have those who care and will look out for you. Be good and take care of yourself.
Awww, thanks for the de-lurk! It means a lot to me.
Therapist is helping.
Glad to hear it. Sorry I don’t type much. You are good and I really enjoy your work. Now I must hide in shadows again. 😛
