I apologize to the lot of you for yesterday’s Crystal Baby promotion interruption. I can tell from the complete silence I got on it that most of you were not expecting the narrative to be detoured like that. I probably should have waited until the end of the chapter or something.
Four comics this week to make it up to you. My fans are my priority, and if I gave you something you didn’t want then I’m going to have to make up for it.
This is not how I imagined my birthday going. Sorry, folks. I shouldn’t let my problems get in the way.
Ouch that hurt.
I wonder if the Shaman is on the demons’ side, or if she was forcefully recruited.
Given the prior actions of the demons/brainwashed servants/etc, I think we can safely guess the answer lies somewhere between “Deceived into brainwashing” and “Kidnapped and forced into being a battery for the portal.”
No worries on the Crystal Baby promo – it’s good to get these things out where people can see them.
Also, “Cockblock!” is a hilarious battlecry when fighting an incubus.
It probably also served as an attack, similar to Sarin naming Ambassador Worm
Don’t worry about the interlude. I simply had nothing really to add, is all. And I’m not particularily fond of the “me too”.
Anyway, today’s comic: Hehe, cockblock… 😀
But yes, it’s what he does. Though from those oh so romantic words towards Hitomi, it would seem it wouldn’t have stopped at just a little mind control.
Also nice move by Elka. Eyes? Protected. Chin? Not so much! And I think she’s got the currently most vulnerable part of the portal correctly. Question is, how she plans to exploit it.
i want that battle scream! “COCKBLOCK!” best ever! xD
No worries about the interlude. As mentioned by others, I just didn’t have anything to add.
happy late birthday
It was fine, Speed. Though I think that it might be better if you add a banner or something directly below the comic where you can promote it constantly, though I have no idea how you’d do it to get around Ad-Blocker, though.
Doing it that way means that readers will always see it and thus, increase the amount of money you get for the project. Also, I know that venting helps, but I wouldn’t do it on social media (at least that which people can connect to the comic). It comes off as…well, jerkish and might put people off from donating at all. I would even go so far as to keep all the stuff about your struggle with depression off of your linked Twitter account, because it just looks more professional.
But speaking about the rejection itself, realize that it is just part of how the industry works. Keep submitting stuff, don’t give up. Each rejection is just more experience, crushing as it may seem at the time, and you’ll be more prepared the next time you try. Practice, as they say, makes perfect, and not to continue referencing old things, but imagine yourself as the tortoise instead of the hare. You’ll get there at the pace you’re supposed to get there at, just never give up. There are no shortcuts.
I know that I have been critical in the past, but please know that I do it for good reason; to help the comic (which by extension I believe will help you). You’ve got something here, and a gift that I wish I had, so don’t let things get you down. If I didn’t care, if any of us didn’t care in some way, we wouldn’t be here.
It’s good. You wouldn’t offer criticism if you didn’t care. Absolutely nothing you say falls on deaf ears, like I said.
I personally thought the Crystal Baby thing looked really cool, so I’m glad it interrupted the story that one time 😀 Remember, silence is not automatically rejection. I personally went and donated to your patreon as soon at I saw the promotion, but I didn’t think to comment.
The last word was “Don’t.” Mr. Goggles is lucky he didn’t bite his tongue off!
Mr. Goggles
Interesting that you called her “Mr.” – was it an honest mistake or part of a fan theory?
I was fine with the interrupt as well. I’m excited to see it come out. I love your stories.
Good thing she didn’t try the eye gouge again “fool me once…”
Though now that I think of it an elbow on top of an eye would hurt quite a lot, goggles or not.
Would certainly hurt more with the goggles off though.
I hope that your have a happy birthday!
Happy late birthday Speedball! Don’t worry about your fans, or about grieving us, or repairing us; we will keep coming back and we’ll do so because we like your comic, so relax, give yourself some peace of mind.
Oh yeah, about the rejection: Judging from what I’ve read about past bestsellers, I’m pretty sure that if took all top ten selling books written in the last two decades and from that only author’s first or second books into account (with the latter not being part of a series), you’d find at least a third of them having been rejected at least once before getting published.
… ok, 4 frames of tentacle demon hentai. There are comics which would make that attack last whole issue. Heck, in some cases it would be only content of comics 🙂
