Yeah, most of you called it: Elka’s fireproof. Hey, it’s not like she wanted to douse herself in flames beforehand to test it out!
Also: the demon is still in Mori’s head. That’s how it works. You can’t every really get rid of this thing completely. I should know, it haunted me enough during the past few weeks…
I don’t think it even occurred to me that she might be fireproof until the previous page.
Also, I don’t remember her doing a lot of cooking, so even if she doesn’t need potholders any more she might not have noticed.
There’s a lot of trading-off of cooking in the house. So far though I’ve only demonstrated two people cooking: Aki’s dad and Sarin.
Sure, I can believe that. But if a lot of Elka’s cooking is stuff like sandwiches that don’t require oven/stove time, she might not have had the kind of accident that would tip her off.
They need one of those essence sucking stones to get rid of those head demons (where’s that jerk when you need her?)
Elka’s actually *permanently blinding* people, isn’t she. She’s *destroying their eyes*.
(Well, ‘permanently’ insofar as this setting has super-advanced healing techniques.)
I guess she can’t deny her past after all. That’s an outright dirty but very effective attack. Not untypical for an assassin.
Also in this world actually a scary and very painful, but apart from that rather merciful way of subduing someone quickly in a mass fight like this. The eyes, as you correctly stated, can be healed. But being blinded until then will quite effectively take you out of the fight.
And yep, Elka may be fireproof. Her clothes and gear however aren’t! 😉
If you go back and check the scene where Elka fights Priscilla, I’m pretty sure she destroyed Priscilla’s eyes too — note that her fingers are stained blue after the jab.
Of course, Priscilla’s eyes regrew when she got werewolf’d, and baby Priscilla is uninjured, but that’s not the point.
It’s interesting that even Elka’s deliberately-non-lethal attack is permanently life-altering. (with the aforementioned details about what “permanently” means in this setting, of course)
“Non-lethal” … ehh, not sure. It might not be as deadly as a knife stab, but we’re still talking about major trauma and bleeding.
Oh, absolutely. No one ever said harmless. But in context probably the quickest non lethal way of getting someone out of the fight that also can be reversed.
Suddenly!
Partial colors look good!
Fireproof? yet better. but her clothes? not so. not that i complain.. *brick’ed*
Depression demon.. the hårdest kind of demons to get ride of? damn.
And nobody has noticed the lack of Amy and Pris behind Elka.
They’re not dead, I promise. They just ran for it.
And I’m not dead, I promise. Just sick for a day.
