Kili hasn’t invoked a spirit like this in a very, VERY long time in the comic’s history, and you might consider it cheating that she’s an animist who can find a spirit in ANYTHING, but then again, she had to make a deal with the thing in order to get what she wanted from it. How high will this price ultimately be? We shall see.
Thank you for the outpouring last comic. I really DO need your help to keep making the comic. Believe it or not, just taking fifteen seconds to give me a comment keeps me going for a lot longer than that. Some people send me donations through Patreon, but kind words work miracles too.
Speedball, you rock.
Nice. I suspected some spiritual thing when I saw the previous page, but didn’t think of contacting the knife itself…
Kili is awesome. Persuasive and brilliant.
…Silver will not aid her… I’m not sure how that will work out, but sounds sorta dangerous. Idly curious if this means she’ll no longer show up in mirrors (which traditionally have a silver backing).
Neither shall it aid you.. does that mean that Kili will be broke the rest of her life?
And BTW, where’s that Sarin backstory you promised us for the Patreon page?
Still working on it but the first part will go up Friday. If I spend the time I can have the rest of the parts out over the course of the next week. I apologize. It was very hard for me to concentrate on it to get it properly done without making the writing sloppy (I didn’t like a lot of how Empty Clothes went)
Your imagination, writing and stories are in general great. You don’t need to be so hard on yourself.
When I first stumbled upon this webcomic, I nearly dissmissed it as another stupid transformation comic with bad art, where everyone got “ka-girled” for no real reason without any cosequences.
Boy, was I wrong.
This is one of the more well-written webcomics I’ve seen. The story is complex and fun to follow, the world is well-developed, the characters are memorable and I find very little things to complain about. I absolutely adore how you try to tackle post-transformation trauma at least semi-seriously – nobody ever does this… ever.
Sure, the art is still amateur-ish, but this is one of these times I’m okay with totally overlooking it because the actual story is very good. Keep up the excellent work!
Sorry, I still need to re-write that first chapter so it’s less…sloppy. But I’m glad you stuck with it! Heh. I try to be more than most, even if my art skills keep failing me. I should have learned to draw at a much younger age.
I’d say that the writing is actually the sloppiest part of the ffirst chapter. Back then it barely seemed coherent. But when you get into it, you barely notice the quality of the art because it’s the story we’re all in for.
True, true. It’s like the first season of star trek TNG, I didn’t have a grasp of what I was doing storywise until the second chapter. My plan for redoing the first chapter is to write all the characters better while keeping the plot bullet points mostly the same.
Now that sounds interesting. Will definitely give it a read, when it’s out.
Silver will not aid you…
Thoughts?
1. Silver affects Lycanthropes, so perhaps this will have something to do with her Lycanthrope? Is a Lycanthrope’s ability to return to human form related in some way to silver (and that’s why silver hurts them?) Ergo… no more turning back into a human?
2. The silver dagger is blocking her wound, so… perhaps suddenly it’ll fall out and she’ll need (even more) medical attention?
3. Mirrors were typically made of silver — and the moon, silver, mirrors, vampires and werewolfs were all mixed up in the original myths. So perhaps her reflection is a goner?
I don’t think it’s silver in general, just the silver in the knife. At least that’s how I read it.
Other than that: Kudos to Speedball for thinking about the spirit of the knife. It is often overlooked that in such a setting really just about anything has a spirit. Even though it can make for such excellent story ideas.
“Silver shines bright and shiny”
This needs to be changed to something that reads more smoothly, like “Silver shines bright and true”
cool. indeed cool. she is defintely badass
Contacting the spirit of the knife … interesting … hope this doesn’t backfire down the line. Either way, Kili is a major badass.
Most mirrors are actually steel, because it’s cheaper. You can tell the difference by the quality of reflection.
I choose to believe that the silver just dropped a hint that the evil demons are vulnerable to silver.
Oooh, nice. Didn’t think of that, but it’s entirely possible!
