FIRST NEW PAGE OF DRAGON DOCTORS IN MONTHS YEAAAH! This is Mori, showing off more of her abilities. I’ve kept them pretty vague so far, but Mori’s going to get a hell of a lot more character development soon.
Those of you who are familiar with video games or anime may know of the “instant runes” trope, making a magic circle around yourself instantly. This is taking that to a whole new level: a magic COMPUTER.
I actually lost a lot of the work I did on this page initially and had to re-do it all but I think it was good motivation to re-do everything quickly. I need to get my speed back.
You should have made it 128 just to make it a base-4 number. Computers like those. 😀
Depends on how the system works – 120 = 5! = the number of possible rituals that could be created by placing 5 different symbols in an order, for example.
Dang you got better at drawing over the run of Dragon Doctors so far! This page looks friggin’ sweet, man!
Seconded – loving the glow effect, too.
Yay for the return. I missed the Doctors.
Hell yes! Oh, do those panels remind anyone else of something out of Mass Effect, or is that just me?
Making light, and making runes with light, are both perfectly rational. A console I’m less sure about, it seems mid-shift you could have issues, but not knowing the details, I’ll go with it. A computer I’m even less sure about, as seems the ‘runes’ would need to self-interact to run any sort of calculations, let alone actual programs. Still, very interesting idea.
Lots of magic seems to be set up so that the more often a spell is cast the easier it becomes. Which means that in the short run it’s very very wasteful, but after a few (periods of time) it becomes pretty darn efficient.
You could probably get a little cheaty face and give it a bit of intelligence as well, essentially giving it enough will to sustain itself like a golem.
Mori and a magical computer! Awesome!
Finally new Dragon Doctors! Even More Awesome!
@EcchiKitty: the interplay, or more usually, interference between magical symbols, runes, glyphs etc. is actually a rather common idea. And not just in fantasy literature, but in many old systems of magic and mythologies.
is your gravatar one of the robot/artifical things from Phantasy Star 3? been a while since I played it but that series always did have a rather distinctive character headshot design.
Right on my birthday!
Also awesome comic, just found it and read it in 2 days.
Great job!
