So much of Goro’s identity has been tied up in specific, obvious ways of being awesome – I can see how losing one (another) of her most defining traits would be hard on her emotionally.
Whatever skill she loses, however difficult it is for her to regain that edge, she’ll still be saving lives and improving lives, though. I think that’s what she needs to fall back upon.
I can’t wait for the rest of the doctors to find out that in the few minutes they’ve been fighting for their lives, Aki and Goro had a daughter, and that she’s a teenager now.
I’m guessing there will be a second generation of Dragon Doctors like in the TV show ‘Extreme Ghostbusters.’
Hitomi, Elka, rejuvenated Priscilla, Greg, and Sarin gets to be the wise one.
they have been there in long time without using that skill. granted it can’t be easy to learn it over. Guess surgery is not like to learn to bike.
It must be like learning german.. and fail to understand it after a long time without using that. however it is not that hard to get that refreshed. oh well we gotta to wait and see. 🙂
Well those menial activities and video games may be the only things stopping that boredom from becoming something much worse, one of the failures of the biosphere experiments was the phycological problems prolonged isolation caused. And that was over the course of a few months
It would work fine, many people in the Third Age created bodies that functioned entirely on Harmony.
If you were to ask Goro, the response would be: “How would we do that? We have no access to the tools or materials to fashion a sunlight generator, and none of the existing light fixtures can be adapted to that purpose since they were designed to be perfectly safe by Third Age standards!”
In that case he would miss great opportunity to say “I’m a doctor, not a mechanics”. Although even a mechanics would likely find hard to build an UV lamp without proper tools and with limited materials …
They never planned on having Hitomi, and it was already questionable how long the Harmony supplies would last for just 2 people.
Also, you know that siblings drive each other crazy, and that that craziness could easily end up with one of them accidentally pushing the other into the time-sphere or breaking each other’s stuff?
Single children do end up spoiled, but at least they are stable and easier to control.

(Ooh, color!)
I’m trying to make Hitomi look like a fusion of the cutest parts of Aki and Goro. Working?
I can see it. 🙂
If you ask me: Yes, it’s working.
In the words of a certain metal dog, “affirmative”
Idly curious at the computer, if there’s anything special going on there so that would -always- be more courses to study….
I’m strongly reminded of http://xkcd.com/57/.

Don’t worry, Goro. That’s a position you can yet regain. With hard work, sure, but you can get it back if you want to.
Poor Hitomi. Boredom, the bane of all teenagers.

That would be all kinds of awesome. 😀
But personally, I don’t think so. Some changes in future dynamics and groupings yes, a complete spin-off (so to speak) no.

I would guess that being surgeon is like riding bike, but being the BEST surgeon isn’t.

I imagine that they will be temporarily blinded when the arrow hits, I wonder what Hitomi will think seeing the night sky for the first time…
Why couldn’t Amy convert Harmony to sunlight or something like that that would power her?

This an excellent and well rounded development Speedball!
Thanks for making this comic!
Why didn’t they think about having a sibling for Hitomi to play with? Or did they think it would be competition for their attention to her?
